Theme
The collection of antique figurines and decorative and everyday objects comprises about 150 items. These are mostly zoomorphic and anthropomorphic sculptures – small statues, but also a number of everyday objects or decorative items such as oil lamps, mirrors, jewellery and decorations for vessels, furniture and military equipment.
Most of these items originate from Rome and a few come from Greece, Egypt and Mesopotamia. The objects are mostly made of bronze and other metals (lead, silver), with a few specimens made of ceramics and stone.
The objects were created over a wide period of time, from the Iron Age to the Middle Ages, and the provenance of many has not been determined. They differ in styles, quality of workmanship and purpose.
